Mr. Vengrow, the managing partner, has been with the firm since 1986. He started his career in the U.S. Marine Corp.'s J.A.G. Corps, and from there went to the legal department of the Federal Maritime Commission. His wide ranging litigation experience includes cargo claims, personal injuries, collisions, ship fires, bankruptcy matters, and employment cases. He has had great success in obtaining remission or reduction of Customs fines and penalties imposed on vessel owners in drug cases. His appellate victory in the 1994 Dia Navigation case halted a federal policy on vessel stowaways that had withstood all prior judicial challenges by ship owners. His appellate win in the 2002 Senator Linie case rewrote the law on the common carriage of hazardous goods. He has been named in the 2009 edition of New York Super Lawyers. Areas Of Specialization
