The Surrogate Courthouse.  This vintage picture postcard shows the New York Surrogate's Courthouse at 31 Chambers Street, completed in 1907 at a cost of over $7 million. Its original name was the Hall of Records. At the time it was built, it was described as the most Parisian building in New York City. It has been designated a New York City Landmark.  [ Continued ]
